Rumor: Multiple Silent Hill Titles In Development

So it’s been a little over 7 years since the last Silent Hill game (2012’s Book of Memories), or 5 if we count P.T.. Many fans have completely written off the chances of there ever being another title in the series. Operating under the assumption that you already know all about what went down, odds were in favor of Silent Hill becoming little more than an aesthetic to bolt onto video gambling machines. Well, fans may (thankfully) be proven wrong in the near future as a new leak has sprung up regarding the future of the series. DuskGolem aka AestheticGamer (who has been consistently on the nose with leaks regarding the Resident Evil franchise time and time again) tweeted some information this afternoon that fans of the series (hell, horror in general) will be delighted to hear about.

We can also verify that, while we can’t discuss any details, we’ve also heard from our own independent source that a Silent Hill project is in development. These two sources are (in our opinion) the strongest evidence yet that Silent Hill may really be back from the dead. Considering Konami’s radio silence (no pun intended) on the series outside of more slot machines, this news comes as a massive surprise to fans. We’ll be waiting with bated breath for whatever announcement may be coming. If it is indeed to be revealed this year (as AestheticGamer suggests), it would most likely be at E3 or during a Sony State of Play. Given the timing future titles would most likely release for PS5 and Xbox SX, and either console nabbing the chance to be the first to announce a new Silent Hill is easily “game of show” material that would steal the spotlight from either console presentation.
Silent Hill may be on the horizon, friends. For now, all we can do is wait.

Silent Hill: Konami “Considering Ways To Provide The Next Title”

A few days ago, we reported on a leak regarding the future of Silent Hill, a series that I’m sure most of you know has laid dormant since 2014 (outside of merch and slot machines). The leak, from trusted source AestheticGamer, reports that not one but two new Silent Hill games are in development at this time — a reboot of the franchise, and a Telltale style adventure game. I hadn’t really expected to hear much else about it for a while, years even, but today Konami actually talked about the future of the franchise. PCGames Network reached out to ask about the rumor and a Konami spokesperson responded:

“We cannot share anything at this point, but we are listening to customer feedback and considering ways to provide the next title”

While that might seem like crazy-vague corporate talk, it is interesting how it lines up with the leak in a specific way, and it could be argued it’s just a tick below confirmation. “Considering ways to provide the next title” sounds about right with AestheticGamer’s claim that Konami has/had been looking for fresh blood to develop the next game/s. From AestheticGamer’s statement:

“Konami about two years ago reached out to various developers to pitch ideas for two Silent Hill games”

Again, AestheticGamer’s comments should still be considered rumor and taken with a grain of salt, but it would be remiss of me not to speculate on the possible links between his leak and this new statement. Only time will tell what exactly is in store for us, but Konami talking about the future of the franchise at all is a pretty big deal. Previously, Konami’s only real statements in regards to console games at all lately have been that they still consider them “the most important”. That comment follows on the heels of Konami having only released five new (discounting ports) console games between 2018-2019, two of which were PES games and one of which was the reportedly terrible Contra: Rogue Corps. Games obviously take quite a while to make, so that statement was most likely looking into the future, rather than the current state of their console offerings.

With the next-gen of consoles right around the corner, odds are good that we’ll be seeing and hearing more from Silent Hill in the coming months. Fingers crossed, friends.

Vaya, vaya.

Pyramid Head y Heather Mason estarán llegando a Dead by Daylight.

Official Silent Hill Twitter Account Opens Amidst Revival Rumors

In case you were unaware, rumors of a new Silent Hill game (or possibly games) have been circulating since we broke a story from our insider sources back in March. Since then there’s been a deluge of curiously timed Silent Hill …things going on; from the inexplicable announcement of a third motion picture to a well-known horror manga artist teasing being involved in a Silent Hill project on multiple occasions, there’s a bunch of weird things that have peaked fans interest in the past few months. Not the least of which, of course, is the release of an all-new Silent Hill DLC for Dead by Daylight, which included Heather Mason and Pyramid Head as playable characters. There have been other interesting, if lower-profile, occurrences of the Silent Hill brand sturring from its great slumber.

Immediately after our leak went public (as in literally days), the official Silent Hill Facebook page suddenly became active again for the first time since 2017, and has remained active as recently as the 14th of this month. Admittedly it’s mostly been marketing for the Dead by Daylight DLC, but it’s still remarkable, to say the least. A few months after that in May was when the DLC in question was officially revealed of course, so there’s been a pretty steady stream of minor updates since the initial leak.

Just today, as a matter of fact, the official Konami Twitter account posted a short video of the Silent Hill 2 siren sound effect over a black screen. Fans went understandably apeshit, and the PR person in charge of the account quickly responded with a statement about how everyone should calm down and that they were only having fun after enjoying some Dead by Daylight streams. While that tweet has sparked some… responses from the fanbase, it was followed up one last time by official Konami Twitter account:
While this final follow up might not seem like much more than just one last attempt to quell the situation, the real shocker here is the tagged account. @SilentHill… is brand new. Launched on July 9th (where it retweeted the Dead by Daylight announcement from Behavior Interactive), this brand-new, official Silent Hill Twitter account has just been sitting here, quietly tweeting away about Dead by Daylight and retweeting fan art for over a month now. They haven’t actually interacted with anyone yet, but it’s also interesting to see who the account is following. From the official Twitter account for Unreal Engine 5 to Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka (both of which have been rumored as being involved with the reboot), as well as the official Xbox and PlayStation accounts, the short list of @Silent Hill’s follows is very exciting indeed. Amongst the big guns are also a few curious choices, like YouTuber DashieXP and gaming website Fangamer, as well as things like Funko Pop — which has never had a Silent Hill brand deal.

It’s worth mentioning that, amidst all of this, there was also a supposed leak (or leaks) from 4chan have pegged the Silent Hill revival game as being part of the rumored August PlayStation stream, where Resident Evil 8: Village‘s new trailer is meant to be shown. While it would be fun to jump right in and get hype over this, the two 4chan sources are wildly different from one another, with different dates and almost completely different lists aside from both including Silent Hill and easy targets like Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Swift chuck into the bin is in order on that one.

Regardless of believable (or unbelievable) rumors, we are once again faced with the simple fact that something is going on with Silent Hill, and it’s going on now. Dead by Daylight could easily handle its own marketing without the help of a new Silent Hill Twitter account, which would require a Konami staffer paid to run it (and probably at least some minor moderation from the Konami PR department at large). For now, all we can do is wait and see… but I gotta be honest, we’re getting our hopes up.
